MANCHESTER NORTHERN QUARTER TAKEOVER WRAPPED!

Wrapped! Manchester Northern Quarter Takeover January 2024 By Scruff of the Neck

Our Northern Quarter Takeover was a huge success with 700 tickets sold out across all 6 venues right in the heart of Manchester's cultural hub. 19 bands - including three national touring acts and the hottest new local Manchester bands took to the city's finest grassroots venues for a huge night of new music discovery.
Huge sets were smashed by  Aerial Salad (The Castle), Echo Beach (Aatma), Oceans On Mars (Gullivers), The Social (The Peer Hat), Malcolm (33 Oldham Street) and The Illicits (Off The Square) whilst BEX and Freya Beer travelled from London and Play Dead made the pilgrimage all the way from Brighton!
Not only did Scruff of the Neck put on 6 shows in one night, we invited our artist community to our office for an afterparty late into the early hours...

Manchester record label and gig promoters Scruff of the Neck are showcasing 19 brand new bands across 6 venues in one night in the city’s cultural hub, the Northern Quarter. Although all shows are independent of one another (with their own headliners and support artists), the event has been planned to logistically allow a ‘gig-hopping’ approach whereby it is possible to watch part of all 19 performances!

Performing artists include a combination of new Manchester talent and three national touring acts. Headliners are all from Manchester and include Aerial Salad (The Castle), Echo Beach (Aatma), Oceans On Mars (Gullivers), The Social (The Peer Hat), Malcolm (33 Oldham Street) and The Illicits (Off The Square) whilst BEX and Freya Beer are travelling from London and Play Dead make the pilgrimage all the way from Brighton!

The mission and ethos of Scruff of the Neck is all about finding the best bands first, but sometimes it can be a challenge for all the Manchester team to see the bands live as there are only so many days in a year! The vision for this event was to make it physically possible for one person to watch all 19 bands in one night! Although this may be a tall order in reality, the full Scruff of the Neck team are out in force and will definitely get to see every artist between them.

Fan access can be gained to each event individually at just £10 for a ticket however there are a small number of ‘Access All Shows’ tickets available for £20 for those ready to get their steps in.

Artists A-Z: Aerial Salad, BEX, Dane Kelly, Echo Beach, Freya Beer, Funeralcare, Jace Campbell, Kyris, Lost Legs, Maddy Storm, Malcom, Mr Mannequin, Muddy Elephant, Oceans On Mars, Play Dead, Sixth Day, The Illicits, The Social, White Lupara
